Ways To Help

Honor/Memorial Gifts

Not sure how to pay tribute to someone who had a special impact in your life? Honor someone special, a special occasion, or the memory of a loved one by making a gift in their name. We will send an acknowledgement letter to the honoree notifying them of the gift. Honor and memorial gifts are especially meaningful because they not only recognize the individuals that mean the most in our hearts, but also make an important difference in the lives of children and families.

Planned Giving

Below is a list of our planned gift options, which provide an everlasting legacy of hope to children and families, today and for generations to come. These gifts are critical in helping to positively change individual lives, even when you are no longer living.

Gift Annuities

Charitable gift annuities are a reliable way to receive fixed income and avoid the whims of the stock market. You receive fixed quarterly payments with a high rate of return guaranteed for the rest of your life. This special gift gives you the peace of mind knowing that your rate of return never changes, like securities. It will give you additional retirement income and will assist with the diversification of your financial portfolio. Ultimately, you will make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. Charitable gift annuity rates generally start at 5% and go up to 10.5%; rates are dependent on your age. For more information, please contact Cindy Naegele, Vice President of Advancement and Communications, at 440.260.8341 or cindy.naegele@OhioGuidestone.org.

Legacy Society

The Legacy Society is a group of donors who have included OhioGuidestone in their will, trust, retirement plan, life insurance policy or other estate plans. Additionally, membership may be attained by establishing a OhioGuidestone endowment fund or charitable gift annuity. Many members made the decision to join the Legacy Society because they are loyal supporter of the agency. By making a special Legacy gift, donors rest assured that children today, and for many generations to come, will be able to receive all our quality human empowerment services. We currently have over 200 members and would love to have more! For more information, please contact giving@ohioguidestone.org, or call 440.260.8231.

A charitable gift of securities and/or mutual funds can be beneficial to you and our 11,000+ children, families and adults. Instead of instabilities of an often unpredictable market, we have some guarantees: 1. Your gift will make a difference. 2. Your gift will turn lives around. 3. Your gift may help you avoid capital gains tax. For information and electronic transfer instructions, call Cindy Naegele, Vice President of Advancement and Communications, at 440.260.8341 or cindy.naegele@OhioGuidestone.org or Colleen Manning, Senior Advancement Assistant, at 440.260.8361 or Colleen.Manning@OhioGuidestone.org. Please also notify the Advancement Office by phone or email before the transfer occurs.

Endowment Funds

An endowment fund can be established with a gift of $5,000 or more. This can be a gift of cash and/or stock. Donors have the option to name the endowment fund and can determine how the annual income from their fund will be used. Most endowment donors elect not to select a designation for their annual income, directing their annual income to the highest priority need area of the agency, as determined by the Board of Directors. Once a donor has made a gift to establish an endowment fund, a formal resolution accepting this fund is voted and approved by OhioGuidestone's Board of Directors. This gives donors assurance that the endowment fund is permanent and has been formally accepted by the Board of Directors. Upon being named permanent, donors become members of the Legacy Society as well.

In-Kind Gifts

Make an In-kind gift: A child needs a blanket to stay warm, a young adult with her first job needs clothing to work, and a family needs a car seat to safely transport their new baby. Our impoverished clients are always in need of in-kind items that include gifts such as school supplies, toys, toiletries, electronics, clothing, and infant items*.

Click here for a wish list of items our children and families need most. Gift cards to local retailers, such as Giant Eagle, Target or Walmart, are also encouraged. To make an in-kind donation, please call 440.260.8212 to set-up a delivery appointment.

Annual Giving

Donate to the OhioGuidestone Annual Fund: The OhioGuidestone annual fund helps to provide the funds necessary to give our clients in need all of the tools they need for a better life.  The children and families in our programs live in poverty and need your help to overcome the barriers they face. Gifts to the annual fund can be designated to specific programs or given for general operating support. Your special gifts help our clients receive mental health treatment, learn critical job skills, learn how to better care for their children and much more. Every donation makes a difference in the lives of children and families.
